Not only Ferrari, McLaren & Co work with HiTec. The access control systems at the Formula 1 races are also made from state of the art technology. Drivers, mechanics, press- and TV crews they all enter the paddock and the pitlane with a special card. A sophisticated central system and turnstyles, especially designed for Formula 1, make sure that only authorized persons can enter the hot area. The software of the system allows to determine upfront, who may enter any area at any time or who for instance may only enter the paddock on a certain day. The readers work with two different contactless technologies. Both types of cards are individually produced for each race and carry security features such as holograms, transparent areas and engraving fields.

Due to a clear defined stop position of the card below the antenna, all transactions are performed without any errors. Once a card is inserted into the front, the microcontroller moves the card to the antenna position. To interface the chip, a standard serial port (RS.232) is available. If a non proximity card is used, the controller will eject the card at the front after a timeout.
