If it gets really hot - better use PC instead of PVC |
 |
12.08.2009 - During this summer, tropical temperatures were more the exception in Germany. Nevertheless normal PVC cards can be damaged by heat – for example when parking cards are placed under the windshield of a car. Starting at 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit), cards made from PVC can deform.
The high temperature cards from CCD offer much more protection: they contain heat resistant polycarbonate (PC) and withstand temperatures of up to 85 degrees Celsius (185 degrees Fahrenheit). „Such a card you can even take into a Sauna“, reveals Ralf Kleffner, Sales Director Cards at CCD.
The rugged PC cards are of course compatible with standard printing and personalisation technologies, as CCD applies for example PVC foils onto the surface. Apart from the mentioned parking applications, they are naturally ideal for long lasting government ID-cards. The optical memory card from LaserCard also contains Polycarbonate.
