 12.03.2008 - We all dream of going to that mega-star pop
concert or that international golf or motorracing
tournament, and when we are lucky
enough to make it, we are proud to wear an
Extra Large portrait ID badge.
If we get one which says Access All Areas
then we have really arrived in celebrity land;
what a souvenir!
Surprisingly, a lot of these coveted badges are
still made the hard way using ink-jet printing and
peel-and-stick photos, but not for much longer thanks to
Magicard customizer cards & more based in Germany.
The clever engineers at cards & more take Magicard Rio
printers, carry out some mechanical modifications and then
add extra sensors and control circuitry to permit the Rio to
print high quality XXL sized (140mm x 87mm, 5 1/2 ins x 3
1/2 ins) cards.
The modified Rios can print a full CR80 sized colour image
in any one of a number of preset positions on the giant XXL
card, and when combined with offset litho printing of event
background data the resulting output is truly stunning.
cards & more chose the Rio because of its inherent reliability and design flexibility
after rejecting other manufacturers models. The project was sponsored by the Magicard Master Dealer for Germany and Austria, Heyden-Securit, who are ensuring that the high level of support enjoyed by Magicard customers also applies to the XXL printer. Both Magicard and cards and more are selling the XXL printer.
