 03.07.2008 - The Italian Ministry of Justice has ordered secure optical/smart cards for its employee ID badges. The cards are compatible with the national infrastructure planned to support the issuance of Citizen ID Cards to approximately 40 million Italians.
The Italian government has already issued approximately 600,00 Foreign Resident Cards in optical/smart card form.
LaserCard previously supplied approximately $18 million worth of optical memory cards and secure encoders for both the Citizen and Foreign Resident ID programs.
