Thailand launches health card |
 |
Aiming to make health care services in hospitals more comfortable and faster, the Public Health Ministry in Thailand is launching its new project allowing patients to receive medication in any hospital across the country by using smart-based ID card and having a fingerprint check.
As part of the project, the National Health Security Office (NHSO) will allocate THB 35
million (EUR 775 000) to develop an information system for hospital operations such as a card reader. The pilot project will start by the end of this month. It will be conducted for six months before expanding across the country in 2010.
People can get the new version of the smart card identification from district offices across country. At present, the Interior Ministry plans to issue only 26 million smart cards. The Health Ministry will discuss with the Industry Ministry, and Information and Technology Ministry about implementing this project across the country.
